STP: Holey Bolders

  • North Creek United States (map)

For this hike, join Slay the Peaks as we explore a fascinating geological oddity in Indian Lake - the Holey Boulders. Greg Schaefer, a historian and naturalist will take our group to these amazing boulders that look like Swiss Cheese - and will discuss the mystery of their origins. The hike itself is relatively easy. If time permits, we'll also go on a second hike to nearby Watch Hill, which has a cliff overlooking Indian Lake and the surrounding mountains. Following the hike, we'll have the chance to visit the Depot Museum (right near where we will park) you can learn how Teddy Roosevelt found out he had become President - right there in North Creek.

Please meet at this parking lot - https://maps.app.goo.gl/iycTNHGkvphJszQD8 - at 10:30 AM on August 8. From there, we'll carpool to the Holey Boulders, and then return back to the parking lot. There are plenty of picnic tables for lunch along the Hudson at the parking lot once we return.
